Mum's attempt at wall pattern backfires as she's left with very X-rated design

Shows such as Changing Rooms showed us how tiny tweaks can go a long way.

A bit of paint and a few hours on a Sunday can help transform a property, and even add value to your home.

One mum's efforts to add a bit of colour to her bedroom left people in stitches as she shared her handiwork after spotting the mistake.

Holly Huscroft had spent hours painstakingly decorating the wall, in order to add a colour block pattern.

But the trendy redesign backfired, as her work ended up resembling a giant penis instead.

Holly said she thought she would share her error ‘for a giggle,' and it certainly left people in stitches.

The colour blocking trend sees people paint different, often opposing colours, next to each other on interior walls.

It's an inexpensive way to brighten up a white wall and can make the house look a lot more modern, but interested parties should consider the colour of paint they're using.

When Holly finished painting the bedroom wall and stood back to appreciate her work, she realised with horror the shape looked like a willy, thanks to the skin-coloured tone she'd opted for.

In order to cover up her phallic drawing, Holly added another shape in a teal shade.

Posting on Facebook group House Talk by Housfolk., Holly admitted the idea didn’t “quite go right.”

She wrote: “Colourblocking! Have wanted to do some in the bedroom for a while!

“We moved in last July and think I’ve painted most of the house but this wall was bugging me!!

“So paint samples got, kids in school and I’m off! Did the two shapes I had planned.

“Errrrrr….. yes unfortunately that looks like I’ve drawn a giant…...on the wall!!

“Added an extra shape in a slightly less skin coloured sample as once I saw it I could not unsee.”

Holly, 37, who lives in the north of England, runs an Instagram account showcasing her home decor style and love of dark colours like blue and green @theblu3house.

She introduced herself saying: “I’m Holly - I’m a lot older than I act and dress! I have two mini people with my hubby and we lived down south for ten years and moved up north a few years ago now!

“I have curly hair, wear stupidly bright clothes and have an obsession with dungarees and kids clothes and anything bright (as you may well tell).

“Pretty much sums me up I think! I feel like some of that may be coming out in my house.”

Lots of people were amused by her decorating disaster.

One said: “It's the 'get naked' sign on top of it for me” to which Holly replied: “I know, it definitely didn’t help us laughing our heads off!

“My husband just lets me get on with it but this one he was like ‘errrr what have you done?”

Another added: “I am dead.”

And one joked: “If you were to continue the dark peach stripe past the other side of the circle it wouldn’t look like a knob. The green arch also resembles something coming out of the end of it...just don’t invite the parents round.”
