Mum's anger as she lends friend a baby sling - and spots it being flogged online

Imagine you loaned something to a friend, only for them to act strangely when you asked for it back.

It would probably set alarm bells off, wouldn't it?

After lending a baby sling to a friend, for one mum these alarm bells are ringing loud and clear.

"So I let an acquaintance borrow one of the slings from my embarrassingly large collection a while ago," she explained on Mumsnet .

She also added: "Made it clear that I’d be wanting it back."

Now, a few months later, the mum is expecting again and is keen to get the sling back.

"It one of the few on the market with a lower weight limit for tiny babies (suitable from 5lbs) and I make small babies, which is why it's this specific sling I'll be wanting for my new baby."

When she asked her friend about getting it back, the reply she got did not fill her with confidence.

She said: "Oh I've packed it away somewhere but will look."

"Mentioned it to another friend who also knows her and said she’s pretty sure that it was being advertised on a Facebook selling site a while back..."

She finishes off by asking if she should call her out on it and "expect either my sling back or the money to replace it?!  Who does that? Borrows something from a friend and then flogs it on the sly?!!"

Who knows what really happened to the sling, whether putting it up for sale was a genuine mistake or maybe because she desperately needed the money.

Either way, other mums showed no mercy in their judgment.

"Send her the screen shot and say 'I hope this isn't mine, I really need it back'," suggested one.

Another added: "Ask again and again and again. If she says she 'cannot find it' say she needs to replace it."

"Buy it under a false name, arrange collection, then watch her squirm when you turn up at the door!" was another suggestion.
