Mum's Amazon Alexa trick to help with potty training labelled 'genius' by parents

One mum has revealed how she's using Amazon Alexa to make potty training easier.

Giving up the nappies is a process many parents know all too well, but one woman believes she's found a way to make the transition easier.

Posting on Facebook group The Motherload, a woman told the social networking platform, which has over 86,000 members, that she sets reminders for her son to go to the loo.

And she does so using the smart device, reports Birmingham Live.

So how does she do it?

The mum explained: "I don't know if everyone has already thought of this and I'm a bit behind but thought I'd share.

"I have an Echo Dot (Alexa) in my kitchen. I ask her to set a reminder for every 40 minutes for '[son] to sit on the potty'."

The woman said that both she and her son find the trick "brilliant" and that it's working for them.

She continued: "It's great because she says 'sit on the potty' and he thinks it's brilliant!!

"It has been so successful and really helped his potty training!"

She added: "Potty training has been a nightmare in our house so I'm feeling happy this morning we are finally making some progress.

"He starts school in September so feeling the pressure a bit now."

The post racked up hundreds of comments from impressed parents.

One comment read: "OMG worth having the Alexa just for that!"

Another added: "Love this idea! Been trying to encourage my son to use the potty, so gonna enlist Alexa's help!"
