Mum's agony as 'thieves steal Christmas gifts and stillborn daughter's memory box'

A grieving mum claims thieves stole her family's Christmas presents and ransacked a memory box she had made for her stillborn baby.

Zoe Hickman says she took her sons Charlie, four, and Bobby, seven, out for dinner and they returned to find their home in Bolton, Greater Manchester, had been ransacked.

The 23-year-old claims burglars stole gifts she had bought for her children as well as their PlayStation 4 and even food from their fridge.

Ms Hickman told the Manchester Evening News that the thieves also went through a memory box for her daughter Matilda, who was stillborn just weeks before Christmas in 2018.

She said: "It's devastating. I saved to get the boys everything they wanted and it's all gone just like that.

"We didn't have a good Christmas last year, so I wanted to make this year extra special for them."

The mum said she took her sons out for tea after picking them up from school, but when they returned home later in the evening they found a window at the back had been smashed.

She said a bag of presents and belongings were missing.

Ms Hickman said she had started her Christmas shopping early and bought gifts for her sons including toys, PlayStation 4 games and new clothes from Next.

She claims the thieves also stole her sons' PlayStation 4, an iPad, jewellery and even food from the fridge.

Ms Hickman said: "I don't know how someone could do this, especially knowing there are kids who live here.

"I got a loan of £500 to go towards some bits for Christmas, which I always do.

"I don't know what I'm going to do now. I'm not working at the moment, so I can't afford to replace any of the presents."
