Mum renovating home finds 'clever' DIY tip from previous owner hidden under wallpaper for 22 years

A DIY mum renovating her home was caught by surprise after finding a hidden note from the previous owner.

The woman had been peeling off wallpaper in her living room when she uncovered the handy message - which had laid undiscovered for 22 years.

Written in pen, the note was a DIY hack signed off by someone named "Jon" on December 21 1997, reported The Mirror reports.

"If you ever need to wallpaper this room again, it will take 8 rolls of wallpaper," the amusing message reads.

The previous owner had left a handy DIY tip behind the wallpaper (Facebook)

"I bought just six rolls at $17 per roll on [December 5, 1997] and didn't have enough. It really pissed me off."

The mum, from Queensland, Australia, shared the snap to a group on  Facebook  - and has since been inundated with comments from people praising the idea as "clever" and "thoughtful."

The DIY mum found the tip extremely helpful, as did many others after it racked up thousands of likes on social media.

One mum even joked: "You can just feel the frustration."

But another person found a flaw in his advice after pointing out that wallpapers come in different widths and lengths.
