Mum raises over €100,000 for Crumlin Hospital in memory of eight month old daughter

A mum who has urged people to attend a fundraiser for the hospital that cared for her eight-month-old daughter before she tragically passed away.

Matilda Quinn was born with a serious heart condition in April 2015.

She was under the care of the team in the Children’s Heart Centre in Crumlin but sadly lost her brave battle later that year.

Since then, Matilda's mum Rebecca Maher has launched 'Matilda'S miles', a fundraising walk in the Phoenix Park to raise funds for CMRF Crumlin.

She said: “There’ll be games and treats before the walk begins, and a chance to win lots of great prizes for local restaurants and hotel breaks around the country.

“This is the fourth annual Matilda’S miles walk.

"It’s organised in memory of our beautiful daughter who was cared for so well in Crumlin. Bring a picnic and enjoy the wonderful Phoenix Park while raising funds for a great cause!”

Around 250 people took part in the walk last year and almost €17,000 was raised for CMRF Crumlin.

This took the grand total raised in Matilda’s name to €116,000.

The walk will take place in the Phoenix Park at 11am on Saturday, June 22.

It’s a fun-filled family day involving a three mile loop walk starting and finishing at the Papal Cross.

The route is suitable for bikes, buggies and scooters.
