When it comes to parenting, no two approaches are the same, and couples are free to split different roles as they see fit.
But one dad has been slammed for failing to share childcare responsibilities with his partner on her birthday.
The hardworking mum had hoped to celebrate the special occasion with her family. Instead, she had to wake up early and look after their child alone, while the dad slept in.
Upset by his 'lack of effort', the mum took to Reddit to share her feelings. In her post, she explained her beloved had stayed home especially for the day so they could celebrate together.

However, she did not end up enjoying the celebration she had hoped for.
"I still had to get up this morning, change her diaper, get her dressed, cook her breakfast, do the dishes & play with her. It's 10:30am and he’s still sleeping," the mum wrote. "He saw me get up with her, he knows. Just so frustrating."
To make matters worse, she goes all out for her partner's big day.
"When it was his bday I made sure he didn’t have to watch her at all, I went out early and took the baby with me to get him breakfast, a balloon, a card, and his favorite candy," the mum explained. As a result, she said: "The lack of effort is so irritating to me."
Unfortunately, things did not massively improve when she told him of her upset. "He got really mad. It was a huge fight. Then we half made up," her post concluded. "I'm tired of this relationship."
In response, concerned commenters offered advice. One said: "Tell him if he was just gonna treat it like any other day then he can go to work."
Meanwhile, a second wrote: "Sending my solidarity your way! Yesterday was my birthday and my SO decided that participating in a raid in his game was more important than even asking if I wanted to hang out or do anything… we didn’t even eat dinner (that I cooked) together. Instead, I spent the evening trying to soothe and care for our daughter alone," before sending her best wishes to the post's author.
She replied: "Happy birthday to you as well!! We both need to set our partners straight."
