Mum 'punched, bit and scalded her baby in hot water after getting frustrated'

A mum has been arrested after allegedly punching her one-month-old daughter in the face, biting her, and scalding her in a hot bath.

Lea Robinson is accused of child abuse after medics discovered the infant had a number of injuries.

Court documents state that she lost her temper because of her daughter's constant crying.

She dipped the infant in a boiling hot bath, KTUL reports.

The mum, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested after doctors found the baby had facial injuries and a severe nappy rash.

It is claimed that Robinson admitted lashing out at the child through frustration as she could not cope.

She also said that she had given the infant a bath while the water was too hot.

The baby had injuries to her buttocks, believed to have been caused by burning water.

According to WSET, the child had a bite mark on her face.

Officials at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa became suspicious when she changed her recollection several times, according to reports in the US.

A report concluding that the baby was abused was filed on October 1 last year.

Robinson is being held on a $50,000 bond and is due to appear in court on February 25.
