Mum praised for sharing son's Christmas gift that 'didn't cost a thing'

A mum has been praised for her Christmas gift idea to her son that 'didn't cost a thing'.

Sarah Payne first created the gift a few years ago but thought it may help families in "unwanted positions personally and financially" in 2020.

The simple idea is completely free and will last your child longer than just Christmas Day.

Using a template she found on Pinterest, Sarah created coupons that her little boy could cash in at any time, such as "breakfast in bed", "invite a friend over for a sleepover" and a "games night".

The mum-of-two shared the idea on Facebook to help other families who may be in the same position as she was, the Mirror reports.

Posting in the Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas Facebook group, Sarah wrote: "After an awful year which has left people in unwanted positions personally and financially, I just wanted to share this idea what I did for my son a few years ago for Christmas.

"Didn't cost a thing and he loved redeeming his vouchers."

She also shared a picture of the various vouchers.

The post has had a lot of reaction with many compliments for the money-saving and thoughtful idea.

"Such a fab idea love it," one group member commented.

Another said: "I've done this for mine this year. 1 for each month...or at least that's the hope. Not sure I could cope with multiple cash-ins on one day!"

"I absolutely love this idea. Did something similar for Father’s Day this year but didn't even think about it for the kids," added a third.

A fourth commented: "Aw love these! Makes me think of the things I should do more of anyway but what a lovely pressie (and I love your presentation) gorgeous."
