Mum praised for dinner she makes her kids on days when she 'can't be bothered'

The last thing anyone wants to do after a long day is to whip up a gourmet dinner - or any dinner at that matter.

So it tends to come down to either a takeaway or a root around in the freezer - and more often than not the freezer wins.

One exhausted mum who felt exactly this way shared what she made for her kids when she "couldn't be bothered" and parents have praised her for being real about the food she makes.

Posting on the Facebook group Mums Who Cook & Bake, the parent said when she doesn't feel like slaving over a hot oven, she'll often put together a "pick plate" which consists of a variety of healthy snacks that her kids love.

The mum said her kids love it (Facebook)

On the plate was some chopped grapes and banana, grated cheese, slices of corn on the cob and leftover dim sum.

Since being posted, the picture has received hundreds of likes from fellow group members who praised her for sharing a dinner that was "relatable".

One mum said: "It has fruit, vegetable, dairy and possibly some form of protein in that dim sum.

"It’s a balanced meal!".

Another wrote: "That's a nightly thing for my three-year-old and one-year-old," reports The Sun.

While a third, who shared a picture of the meal they made for their child that night, admitted she couldn't be bothered to make a slap-up meal as well, and instead served him peas, sweetcorn, homemade sausage rolls and homemade chips.

And a fourth person told mums to never be ashamed of their "freezer dive meals" as they wrote: "My five-year-old has cheese, bacon and apple nearly every freaking night. It’s all we can get her to eat. I’m with you, food's food."
