While we're sure it's very easy to make laundry complicated, using different stain removers, products and such, for the most part we find the whole process pretty straightforward.
And we assumed most people did as well.
However, a recent Mumsnet post has left people divided over the 'correct' method for washing clothes.
In the post, an anonymous woman shared her shock after discovering that her partner did the laundry in a very different way from her.
She writes: "Who is being unreasonable here, me or partner?
"When I put a wash load in the machine, I pick up each item individually and sort of make a mental note of it so I have a rough idea of what is going into the machine (in case anyone asks where an item of clothing is or in case I'm wondering where's that pair of black trousers of mine for example.

"Partner claims to just 'pick up a load of stuff and shove it in'
"He doesn't put them in one by one. So if it's a dark wash that he's put on and I ask are my black trousers in that wash or is daughter's pink dress in that colours wash by any chance? He won't know. All he knows is that he shoved a load of dark or coloured stuff in.
"He thinks that's a perfectly reasonable way to do the washing. I think surely no one else does this? Surely most people look at what they're putting in so they at least have a rough idea of what's going in?"
The mum asks fellow users to settle the debate once and for all for her - but she may have been shocked by the replies.
Many people seemed to take her partner's side, agreeing they didn't spend long looking at washing as they put it into the machine.
One person said: "Big arm full of darks here too. No time to give a f**k where everyone’s pants or tops are."
Another posted: "I separate the colours and shove it in, it’s going to be out in an hour anyway I don’t see the point looking. I’d notice when hanging to dry maybe."
A third replied: "Shove them all in, but mentally note as I hang them to dry."
Someone else branded the mum's method "bonkers", adding: "Of course I don't make notes, just shove it in and take it out again when it's done, that's just bonkers quite honestly."
"No time for all that. Just bung it in," proclaimed a fifth.
However, some users agreed to check certain items, saying: "I don’t check all the undies but usually mentally note the tops/trousers etc, so I know where everything is. I don’t make a big effort, it’s just the way my brain works!"
