Mum packs away decorations on Christmas Day as she 'can't deal with clutter'

A mum has revealed that she takes her decorations down on Christmas Day because she "can't deal with clutter".

Although the Twelfth Night after Christmas, January 5, is the traditional day to take the decorations down, Bec Franklin from Chesterfield, has admitted to ridding her house of all the tinsel, baubles, glitter and fairy lights as soon as she possibly can.

It's not that the 25-year-old doesn't like Christmas as she admits she 'loves the magic' of the holiday, it's that she hates how cluttered the house feels once it's over.

After a tough year with the coronavirus pandemic, Bec and her wife Jorden gave their home a festive makeover in November in a bid to "lift their spirits".

But in doing so they've ended up feeling fed up with Christmas much sooner than they expected.

Talking to The Mirror, Bec, who is mum to a six-year-old, says: "We take them down when our son is in bed on the night of Christmas.

"Not only are we fed up of them by then but I can’t deal with the mess and clutter that comes with having Christmas stuff everywhere, we’ve always done the same.

"We put them up in early November to try and lift our spirits of the past year we have had, and because my wife is Christmas crazy - but we ended up fed up quicker!

"I do love Christmas and the magical feeling you get and everything about it really, but the clutter gets to me so I’m not a fan of the decorations side!

"My wife loves them being up for so long but she’s also ready to take them down by Christmas night too."
