A mum has been left outraged after a landlord told her to "wash your mouth out" with bleach.
Vicky Pitchford, 30, was left furious following the heated exchange with a landlord over a property.
Ms Pitchford, who lives in Staffordshire with her daughter Ruby, seven, has slammed a potential landlord who sent her a 'nasty' message. The row unfolded on February 15, Birmingham Live reports.
Ms Pitchford's landlord increased her rent to £700 - a huge increase from the £450 which she was paying initially.
She contacted another landlord to enquire about a different property and was shocked by the hostile reception she got.
The angry mum-of-one said: “The landlord I am currently with is upping the rent to £700 because he is on about selling so wants the money for maintenance.
“I found this new property so I called the landlord. As soon as he answered he seemed like he was having a bad day. When I asked about the property he said that one has gone but there is another one coming up in two weeks.
“He was asking why I am leaving my current property which I explained to him. He said he can’t believe a landlord would do that.
"He didn’t believe what I was saying. He asked me how much the council paid me, which I then told him
"They paid me £395 and I made the odds up to £450 but he didn’t believe me.
“I then asked him how come you have such an attitude against me? His words were if I can’t ‘be a**ed’ to tell him what the council pays me then he is not going to rent me a house. His tone was really nasty so I got angry and I said ‘who the f**k are you talking to?’. I wasn’t going to argue so I hung up.”
Vicky then received a text message from the landlord saying “Ok - have a nice day and do wash your mouth out with bleach”.
She added: “The text is really bad because my daughter read that too because she was sitting next to me. She already has a lot going on. She knows we have got to move again and is stressed. I don't want to keep on moving Ruby around so I needed somewhere to settle quickly and move her in as soon as possible. I feel depressed.
“I’ve got to move her to another school. I’m viewing a different property on the 23rd Feb. I’m struggling to find the first month’s rent. I used to work but since she got more ill with her seizures I had to stop because she was coming home more regularly.
"I’m still in shock. I don’t understand how someone could speak to another person like that, especially if you are renting your house out.
“He was very unprofessional. Someone like that shouldn’t be selling houses. In my eyes he doesn’t deserve no money if this is how he is. I wouldn’t bother with a landlord like this.”
