Mum-of-two with "zest for life" dies after falling ill while exercising at the gym

A much-loved mum-of-two who died suddenly after working out has had tributes paid for her "zest for life"

Clare Lisa Roberts from Prestatyn took ill while exercising at the gym and, despite efforts to save her, died in hospital on August 27.

Wales Online reported that the 40-year-old's devastated friends have set up a fundraiser to support her family as they deal with their tragic loss.

"She could play like a kid, offer advice like a friend and protect like a mother. The size of her heart was only overshadowed by her zest for life," said Clare's heartbroken friends and family

Two fundraising campaigns have been set up to support her family, one of which was set up by family members to ensure her two children's needs are met in the short and long term.

Another fundraiser was set up by Clare's friends, who are setting off from South Wales to North Wales along the Offa’s Dyke path, walking 177 miles over nine days to honour her memory.

Organising the family fundraiser, Jordan Coates posted: "Clare passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind her two children Dylan & Seren Thomas.

"For those of us who had the privilege to know her, you were always immediately greeted with a warm smile or a beer in hand.

"These funds will be used for her children, supporting them, and other costs associated with the sudden loss of a parent. The family of Clare will manage the funds to ensure the children’s needs are met in the short and long term.

"She could play like a kid, offer advice like a friend and protect like a mother. The size of her heart was only overshadowed by her zest for life.

"Clare was also an avid fundraiser herself, always helping others and would be the first to help anyone.

"If you have been kind enough to give, thank you. Our loss, like every loss, isn't easy. It was unexpected and will be difficult for this family to adapt to."

Clare's employer, Healthy Prestatyn Iach said: "It is with such great sadness we have to inform you of the sudden passing of one of our staff.

"Clare was a lively, loveable and caring person and it is a huge and devastating loss to us all at the surgery. Our love and thoughts are with all her family and friends."
