Mum of tragic scrambler rider says 'I lost my baby, my world is falling apart'

The first picture of a young man killed after a scrambler bike and car crash was released today as his heartbroken mum said: "I have lost my baby, my world is falling apart."

Patrick Conway, 22, died following the collision in Stockbridge Village, nine days ago, when the collision took place.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Astra, left the scene on Waterpark Drive, and was arrested the following day on suspicion of attempted murder.

Today, Mr Conway's mum, Lisa, urged people to come forward to "give her peace" to discover what happened in the last moments of her son's life.

She said: “Please anyone, if you saw the accident, tell the police.

"You don’t have to give your name but I deserve to know how and why my son lost his life, then maybe I can get some peace.

“I have lost my baby, my world is falling apart.

"Please somebody help me, and come forward with information, no matter how trivial, it could help piece together the last moments of his precious life.”

Detectives also today issued a re-appeal for information following the crash which happened at 2.30pm on Monday, April 20.

A second man, also 22, who was on the black and white Honda scrambler bike with Mr Conway, remains in a stable condition in hospital.

The suspect, 27, from Huyton, quizzed on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A murder probe may be launched in the future given Mr Conway has since died following his arrest.

Detective Inspector Tony O'Brien, of Merseyside Police, said: “Our extensive enquiries continue and we particularly want to speak to a van driver who may have witnessed the collision or recorded vital dashcam footage.

"If this was you, please come forward as soon as possible.

“We still want to ensure we have heard from anyone else who saw the collision or aftermath, and who may have vital information or evidence to assist, be that dashcam, home CCTV or footage from any other device.

"What you think is trivial could be the key to establishing exactly what happened in this tragic incident, so let us make the assessment and take the appropriate action.”
