Mum of tragic Celtic-daft teen found dead and half-naked in a ditch says son's killer 'still out there'

The devastated mother of a tragic found dead last year after going missing says her son's killer on still on the loose.

Rhys Bonner was found dead half-naked on August 8 following a major police search after he vanished from the Balarnark area of the city on July 24.

The 19-year-old's family and friends launched a social media campaign to find Rhys who was discovered in marsh ground between and village.

His mum , who appeared on the Anything Goes with James English podcast, said "my son's killer is out there" and that she needs to know what happened to her Celtic-supporting son.

She said: "My son is a child, I don't want it to happen to anyone else. I need to know what happened, it's not fair.

"I had him when I was 17. He was never at the doctors, I kept him safe all my life.

"I just need to know what happened, I need answers. He was only 19, was he in pain, was he wanting me?

"My kids are scared. My son’s is out there walking about. How did nobody see anything?

"A young 19-year-old boy doesn’t take his own clothes off and go and hide in a ditch."

Stephanie said her family struggled to deal with their first without Rhys as they still search for answers.

She said: "My mum and dad - they’re struggling.

"I was 17 when I had . My own mum taught me to be a mum to him. She helped me. She was amazing."

Rhys' mum also claims he was spotted with an older woman in the hours before he vanished last year.

Stephanie also claimed the cops had actually spoken to the woman in question.

She said: "The police said: 'she says she's not seen him'."

The grieving mum then hit out at the cops saying they didn't do enough to find him.

"They weren’t helpful at all. How did it take two weeks to find out where was?," Stephanie added.

"I think the police have made a mess of it. They’ve had five months to make up excuses."

In another revelation, Stephanie revealed she still hasn't received the post-mortem results which were supposed to take place after Rhys' body was recovered.

Staff shortages at the meant the findings were delayed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A report on the circumstances surrounding Rhys Bonner's death has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and we are awaiting guidance.

"We keep in regular contact with the family and continue to keep them updated."
