Mum of three-year-old with cancer taken aback by heartless note from neighbour

With five young children Ragland Randa has a lot on her plate.

This number of kids would be too much for most people to deal with, but for Randa it's just the tip of the iceberg.

As well as running a house and looking after the little ones, the mum also has to make frequent trips to the hospital and watch her son Jaxen fight for his life.

That's because the three-year-old, who is autistic and non-verbal, has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer that forms in nerve tissue.

So with all of this going on, it's fair to say that Randa might not have time to wash all of the dishes of an evening or cut the grass.

But it seems her neighbours didn't get the memo to show a little compassion.

Earlier this week, the American mum was shocked to find a rather harsh note instructing her to "do better" in her mailbox.

Penned by an unnamed neighbour, the message complained about her "eyesore" garden and asked her to make more of an effort with the exterior of her house.

In order to encourage kindness from people and show that you can never know what someone else is going through, Randa shared the letter in a Facebook group.

It reads: "Neighbour, please take pride and straighten up the exterior of your house.

"Your eyesore is affecting the resale value of OUR homes. Who wants to buy a house near you and look at that daily?

"It does not take that much effort, all you have to do is give a s***. DO BETTER!!!"

Writing on social media, Randa added: "Our lives consist of doctors visits and clinic appointments, then we do hospital stays for chemo and transplants and surgeries.

"My son has literally been fighting for his life. He has been hospitalised more than 20 times, had over seven surgeries.

"He is truly the bravest person I know."

"Say hello to people," she said. "Just kindness.

"It's crazy how things like this can truly change a person. Maybe the owner of this note might see this, and maybe not. But either way I feel this may touch someone and this is enough in itself."

Her post has since gone viral, with thousands liking and sharing her powerful message.
