Mum-of-three who could 'light up a room' dies from coronavirus

Tributes have been paid to a "fantastic" mum-of-three who died from coronavirus.

Christine Fletcher from Bootle, sadly lost her life on April 5 at Aintree Hospital.

The 59 year old, who had underlying health conditions, was first admitted to hospital a week before her death with a chest infection and her condition deteriorated rapidly.

Christine contracted pneumonia as a result of complications caused by the virus and her kidneys and lungs began to fail.

The Bootle mum-of-three has been described as an "amazing woman" who could "light up the room."

A fundraising campaign has been set up in her memory, to raise money for the NHS workers at Aintree Hospital.

Paying tribute, friend Robert Messom told the ECHO: "She was a fantastic woman, she would do anything for anyone.

"She was a brilliant mum. Her kids are fantastic, they're exactly the same as her.

"She helped my mum through some hard times, they lived in the same tower block together.

"She could make everyone around her feel happy."

Robert added: "It has been devastating for her family. It's just a shock, it all happened in a week.

"I was thinking what can I do for her, so I got the running club together to raise money for the staff at Aintree Hospital."

Robert and five others including Karl Randles, Jodie Martin, Michael Harris, Ste Cummins and James Brown, will be running a half marathon or 5K every day for the next 30 days to raise money for the NHS.
