Mum of six-year-old abducted, raped and murdered hits out at killer's sentence on Good Morning Britain

The mum of a six-year-old girl has given an emotional interview on Good Morning Britain after her daughter's killer launched an appeal against his prison sentence.

Aaron Campbell abducted, raped and murdered Alesha MacPhail on the Isle of Bute, on July 2 last year.

Campbell, 16, confessed to his wicked crimes  before being sentenced at Glasgow High Court.

He was given a life sentence and ordered to a minimum of 27 years in prison.

Georgina Lochrane admitted that 'every day is struggle' since her daughter's death (ITV)

However, a spokesperson for Edinburgh’s High Court confirmed, Campbell has been granted leave to appeal his life term.

Speaking in her first television interview , Alesha's mother Georgina Lochrane told Good Morning Britain how 'every day is a struggle'.

Asked how she was coping, she said: "I'm okay at the moment, I have my bad days..."

It was revealed that because of Campbell launching an appeal, Georgina may have to sit through the details of what led to her daughter's death again in court.

She said: "I'm disgusted by it, it's not fair, where does Alesha fit in? She didn't appeal to get murdered, so why should he?."

Georgina is now involved in a charity to help those affected by murder (ITV)

Speaking about criminals who appeal their life sentence, she said: "They shouldn't be allowed it it causes more pain for the family."

Asked about the difficulties of raising her second daughter Courtney, Georgina said: "Everyday is a struggle. It's hard to make her feel safe because, in reality, you can't say that to your children now.

"I used to say that to both my kids all the time and now look I've only got one child now.

"So yeah, it's very very hard every single day to try and make her feel safe and make sure and let her know that's she's safe."

"I don't take any risks, I used to take every risk, but I'm so protective over Courtney."
