The mother of murdered schoolgirl Billie-Jo Jenkins has died before seeing justice for her daughter.
We can reveal Deborah Barnett died in 2018, aged 59, a year after calling on police to reopen the case.
Ahead of the 25th anniversary of the murder on February 15, 1997, police now say they are carrying out a forensic review.
They said it would “establish whether or not scientific advances can provide new evidence or lines of enquiry”.
Billie-Jo, 13, was beaten to death outside the home in Hastings, East Sussex, she shared with foster dad Sion Jenkins, his wife Lois and their four daughters.

Mr Jenkins was convicted of the murder, but acquitted in 2006.
