Mum of missing Ben Needham writes letter to Boris Johnson begging him for help

The mum of missing Ben Needham has written to Boris Johnson begging for his help as she marks her son’s 31st birthday tomorrow.

Kerry Needham wants the Prime Minister to put pressure on Greece to stop “ignoring” Ben’s disappearance on the island of Kos in 1991.

Now a gran-of-two, she revealed she has written to every PM since but feels “cast aside”.

Kerry, 48, said: “It’s soul-destroying still having to plead like this after 30 years. I feel we’ve never been given the support by the Government.

“They’ve never publicly addressed Ben’s case.”

Ben was 21 months old when he vanished as he played outside a farmhouse being renovated by Kerry’s dad Eddie.

He and her mum Christine lived on Kos and the family had moved from Sheffield months earlier to join them.

A South Yorkshire Police boss has said it is his “professional belief” that Ben was killed in a digger accident involving Greek builder Konstantinos Barkas. He has since died and his digger is thought to have been shipped to Egypt.

Kerry said: “We also appeal to people on Kos who know what happened.

“What’s it going to take? Even the tiniest detail could help. How can they sit back and let our agony go on?”

During several searches on Kos, British police found a section of leather sandal and a toy car, thought to belong to Ben.

But decomposed blood found on the car in 2016 was not a match.

Kerry wrote to Mr Johnson: “We have now spent three decades searching for the truth and it has been heartbreaking.

“There are still so many unanswered questions and possible leads to follow. As a father yourself, you cannot expect me to accept my son is dead and get on with the rest of my life without proof.

“I’m sure you would want to know and would not give up until you found out."
