Mum-of-eight on benefits says she is addicted to pregnancy and doesn't care what people think

A single mum-of-eight on benefits said she is "addicted" to pregnancy, and doesn't care if people call her lazy.

Marie Buchan, 38, reportedly lives off benefits to support her huge brood which she is raising alone.

The 38-year-old, known as 'Octomum', apparently receives £500 in benefits a week, amounting to around £26,000 a year.

Old statements from Marie Buchan have resurfaced where she said she didn't care if people thought she was lazy for living on benefits (SWNS)

But the unrepentant mum-of-eight said she is not embarrassed or ashamed about being on benefits - and even wants another baby.

The single mum first hit headlines when she appeared on the Channel 4 show Only Human in 2016.

A clip of the show has since resurfaced on TikTok, where Marie said: "I am addicted to pregnancy, I'm addicted to birth and feeding, I'm addicted to that.

"I think a lot of people do see me as trash really. Lazy, useless, just producing babies for money."

When speaking about one of her children she said: "She's a happy baby. That's why I could very easily do it again."

Marie has eight children, aged six to 18 (SWNS)

Marie's brood consists of seven girls and one boy, aged between six and 18.

Marie claimed to work 21 hours a day looking after her children as a single mum.

But she recently faced mass backlash after appearing on This Morning, saying life was better on benefits and saying she wanted to get a boob job.

But Marie claimed she used money from car boot sales and part-time work to cover the cost of her operation - not her benefits.

Last December, she raised concerns over the she blasted the Government for "forgetting" about single parents like her during the pandemic as her kids were home with her all day during lockdown while schools were closed.

She said: "Government claimants like myself, a mum of eight, are forgotten."

Meanwhile, in January, Marie said she was rushed to hospital after testing positive for Covid.

She had to isolate herself in her bedroom while the rest of her family remained downstairs.

The mum described the situation as a "complete nightmare".
