Mum of Cambuslang teen Kai Rae 'eternally grateful' for support as son is found safe

The mum of a teenager who went missing for more than a week has thanked the public for their support in finding him.

Kai Rae disappeared after leaving his house in Cambuslang on November 23.

The 16-year-old was later picked up on CCTV getting off a train at London's King's Cross on the same day.

After a 10-day cross-border search operation by police, Kai was traced safe and well on Thursday.

His mum Gillian Rae took to social media to thank loved ones and 'total strangers' for their help during the desperate search.

The mum said she was 'so excited' to 'finally give her boy a cuddle'.

In a public post: "I'm delighted to say that Kai has been found and is currently travelling home with his Dad and family friend.

"I can't thank everyone enough.

"From everyone out searching, handing out posters, sharing his picture and supporting our family through a difficult time, I am eternally grateful and applaud each and every single person.

"Without the help and determination of complete strangers this would not be happening right now.

"Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart.

"I'm so excited to finally be able to give my boy a cuddle."

Searches revealed that Kai made his way to Edinburgh's Waverly station before boarding another service to London where he got into a taxi and headed to an unknown location.
