Mum of Alesha MacPhail to set up organisation in her daughter's memory

The mum of murdered Airdrie schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail has set up an organisation in her daughter’s memory to “give back” to the community for its help.

Alesha’s Beaming Smile will organise free events in tribute to the six-year-old as it works towards its goal of providing day trips for needy families in the future.

The non-profit, unregistered organisation, run by volunteers, also plans to hold an event each year in memory of the youngster, who was murdered on the Isle of Bute in July last year.

Alesha’s mum Georgina Lochrane wrote on the group’s Facebook page that it would “keep Alesha’s memory alive” and allow her to be remembered for the “happy, bubbly, bright little girl she was”.

Alesha was murdered by evil Aaron Campbell, 17, who is now serving a minimum 27-year sentence with judges taking a “considerable amount of time” before making a decision on whether to reduce his prison sentence.
