Mum Never Did Learn to Knock by Cathy Hopkins – review

This book is a heart-warming story about a teenage girl who tragically lost her mother. Now she spends all day talking to her even though everyone thinks she is mad.

Despite having to deal with special sessions to help her get over her loss she finally finds someone who understands why she keeps talking to her mum. He helps her to come out of her own world and convinces her that she doesn’t need to talk quite so much to her mum.

They slowly and surely fall in love and she needs her mum less and less. One day her mum decides that she is ready and leaves her ghost form to reach heaven at last.

This book is written to be dyslexia friendly, using a large typeface and a easy to read font.

mum never did learn to knock- cathy hopkins

I think this book although short was sweet. It contained many ways to get over loss and grief and was an amazing read for whenever you are feeling down as it contained some really good humour. I give this book 3 and a half stars out of 5!
