Mum names twins but friend says they sound like a seafood dish

Choosing the perfect name for your child can be a difficult task - and it's even harder if you are expecting twins.

One mum thought she’d found the perfect names for her fraternal twins, before a friend mentioned an embarrassing issue.

The mum gave birth to a little girl and boy, naming them Ari and Callum, two names which wouldn’t strike you as out of the ordinary, reports the Mirror .

However, one of the mum’s friends soon pointed out an issue with the names if you swap them around - they sound like a seafood dish.

If you say Callum first and then Ari, it sounds a lot like you're saying the word calamari, which is of course fried squid.

The mum says she was "devastated" when she realised what she'd done, but thankfully she now sees the funny side of it.

Speaking to Mamamia.com.au she said: "I named my twins Ari and Callum. At first that doesn’t seem odd at all… but it never occurred to me to say the names the other way around.

"It didn’t take long for someone to point it out to me. I was devastated at first but now I think it’s hilarious.

"Luckily the twins do too."

This mum isn’t the only one suffering a baby name blunder.

One mum was recently slammed by her sister after deciding to name her son after “ most iconic villain in history”.

The mum planned on naming her child ‘Anakin Skywalker’, the Star Wars character who grows up to become Darth Vader.
