Mum names her baby in honour of her dead dog - but not everyone is sure

Unless you have a dog, it's difficult to understand the bond a person can have with their four-legged friend and the genuine heartbreak that inevitably arrives when the time comes to say goodbye. For mum-of-four Ambyr, the birth of her youngest child came just two days after she lost her beloved dog Myles, a pooch she describes lovingly as her "first baby".

Not wanting loyal Myles to be forgotten as they expanded their family, Ambyr decided to name her newborn son in his honour, christening the little boy 'Henry Myles'.

In a video shared to TikTok, Ambyr spoke of how she will often get compliments about Henry's middle name, which many naturally assume to be a sweet tribute to one of his grandpas.

When they learn that Henry is actually named after a much-missed pet, they are often taken aback, but Ambyr, who goes by the username @ambyrs_ doesn't mind at all, and just knows that Henry and Myles would have been "besties for sure".

In another vid, Ambyr reflected that the family had "lost our first baby two days before we had our last baby", adding that she's "pretty sure they have the same soul."

Many of Ambyr's followers found the name choice very touching indeed, knowing themselves what special members of the family our canine companions can become.

One person approved: "Why not name him after something that is the purest thing on earth?"

Another commented: "Me thinking this is actually a really sweet idea until I remember I called my dog Keith. Ain't no way I'm naming a kid Keith."

A third wrote: "My heart dog was named Brooklyn and we are using it as a middle name for our next baby. Brooklyn for a girl and Brooks for a boy."
