Mum missing for three days found dead after police smash way into house

A mum was found dead in her home by police after alarm bells were raised when she vanished for three days.

Mum-of-two Gillian Wright, 49, from Stoke-on-Trent, was an alcoholic and was seen at her local shop daily.

Her support worker grew concerned after not having any contact with her for three days and contacted the police, Stoke on Trent Live reports.

Police found her body after forcing their way through the window of her flat on Halloween last year.

Ms Wright had fallen between her double bed and the wall.

North Staffordshire assistant coroner Sarah Murphy ruled that Gillian's death was alcohol-related (Stoke on Trent Live WS)

A post-mortem examination revealed Gillian had a fatty liver. The cause of death was recorded as acute alcohol toxicity.

An inquest at North Staffordshire Coroner’s Court heard there were no signs of a disturbance or forced entry.

North Staffordshire assistant coroner Sarah Murphy ruled that Gillian's death was alcohol-related.

She said: "The deceased had a medical history of alcohol dependent syndrome. On October 31, 2018 her support worker contacted the police as she hadn't been seen for three days.

"The flat did not show any signs of a disturbance.

"The pathologist did not find any signs of trauma and paramedics confirmed her death at 2.58pm.

"The police did not find any suspicious circumstances."

A report from her GP revealed she had been sent for alcohol detoxification in 2013.
