Mum 'made her teen daughter live with rotting remains of her gran for THREE years'

A mum has been accused of making her teenage daughter live with the rotting remains of her gran in plain sight for three years.

Police in Texas, US discovered the skeletal remains of 71-year-old Jacqueline Crayton at a home on Sunday night after receiving a tip off from social services.

They have yet to identify the remains but believe them to be of the grandmother.

Officers from the Seguin City Police Department arrested her daughter Delissa Navonne Crayton, 47 on Wednesday in connection with their investigation.

Mrs Crayton lived at the home with her daughter and granddaughter.

Investigators told media they believe Mrs Clayton died in 2016 after suffering a non-life threatening fall in a bedroom at the home.

Seguin Police chief Terry Nichols claims Mrs Crayton failed to call the police after her mother fell.

The officer also revealed investigators are waiting for final confirmation on the identification of the remains.

He said: "We were hesitant to release the name at all but we feel fairly confident that there is no reason not to believe it’s not that person."

He added he believes the grandmother died a few days after the fall while lying on the floor.

Mrs Crayton, a former Seguin school district employee, is charged with injury to a child under the age of 15 and allowing her daughter to live in a house while her mother was decaying in the next bedroom.

If found guilty Mrs Crayton could be jailed for between two to 20 years and a fined up to $10,000 (nearly £8,000).
