Mum looked so different after weight loss friends didn't recognise her

A mum lost so much weight in a matter of months that friends struggled to recognise her at a birthday party.

Madeline Napier decided to lose weight in September 2020 after the birth of her third boy.

Madeline, from Maghull, said she had been overweight for most of her life but she was determined to make a change ahead of turning 40.

Madeline told the ECHO: “I was just snacking on the wrong things, having lots of bread, eating the kids' leftovers and shoving their chips and nuggets down after they were left over.

"I’ve always been overweight for most of my adult life really and then it just went up a bit more after I had my little boy.

"I always had an achy back and achy legs but I thought that was just because I was getting older - but I realise now that's because I was overweight."

Madeline said she had tried a number of different diets over the years but they had all proved unsuccessful.

The mum-of-three tipped the scales at 13st 11.5lbs when she decided to join Slimming World with a friend in September 2020.

Since then, she has lost an incredible 3st 7.5lbs and dropped three dress sizes, going from a size 16 to a size 10 by following Slimming World's food optimising eating plan.

Madeline, now aged 40, said: "I was always worrying about [my weight] before, I was always conscious of it.

"I was always changing what I was eating and really not eating enough sometimes because I was thinking 'I can't have that because I'm on a diet.'

"I don't ever feel like I've missed out on anything since I've joined - you can have so much."

She added: "I just feel so much better. I've got more energy and I can go clothes shopping again.

"It was funny because when it was my husband's 40th in summer, it was the first time I'd seen everyone.

"I'd lost three and a half stone at that point and everyone was amazed saying how different I looked.

"Some people said they wouldn’t have realised it was me. I had to tell my husband’s friend’s dad who I was."
