Finding the right name for your newborn baby can sometimes be fraught with difficulty, as you want to opt for something unique and fitting for your child, but often parents will fear negative reactions from friends and family. One mum was left in stitches after her young son came up with name suggestions for his new baby brother - as she wasn't expecting his hilarious response.
Taking to Reddit to explain the heart-warming story, the anonymous mum said: "So, I am pregnant with a single boy. My pre-schooler has declared he is also pregnant. And to one up me, he is having Boy Girl twins."
"Recently, while coincidentally standing next to my desk with a coin purse and jar on it, he declared his babies will be names Glass and Bag.
"He has insisted this on multiple occasions since. I'm wondering, which is the Boy name and which is the Girl name? And what might they be short for? Bagtholemew and Glassifer?," she asks.
They won’t be the first babies with unusual names. The daughter and son of Elon Musk and Grimes are called Exa Dark Sideræl, ‘Y’ for short, and their son X Æ A-Xii goes by ‘X’.
Let's not forget 1970s rocker Frank Zappa and his brood, who were christened respectively Moon Unit, Dweezil, and Diva Thin Muffin.
Comments on the Reddit post just loved the toddler’s suggestions, with one saying: "Someone needs to turn this into a game, I think there would be a lot of clever people who would dominate. I love it!"
Another commented: "Glass is definitely the girl name and is short for Glassandra. Bag is short for Bagbert".
Praising the originality of the names, someone else said: "Lol that would honestly be an adorable little story to tell when they're older if she names the baby this!!!"
Someone who had a similar experience added: "My oldest picked my youngest's name this way...he wanted to name her a sweet hippy type name (along the lines of Rainbow or Moonlight lol) because he felt it was beautiful like her, so we found a name that meant the same thing. He's equally happy with it, it sounds more reasonable, and it's a cute story. Win/win/win."
"Bagtholemew and Glassifer is the funniest thing I've heard today hahaha thanks for the laugh," someone else gushed.
Another Redditor took the mum's question very seriously with this reply: "If Bag is the girl, she could be Baghilda or Bagnieszka. If Bag is a boy, he could be Bagamemnon, Bagheera, or Bagnvald. A unisex option would be Bagnes/Bagnus. Girl Glass could be Glassidy, Glastrid, or Glaskia. Boy Glass could Glaspian, Glaston, or Glassily."
