Mum left 'gutted' after eating heart-shaped crisp that may have been worth £100k

A supermarket worker has been left 'gutted' after she ate a heart-shaped Walkers crisps which she didn't know could have won her £100k. Mum-of-two Dawn Sagar was enjoying a packet of ready salted crisps before her shift on February 15 when she stumbled across the unusual crisp, the Daily Star reports.

The woman said she sent a photo of herself to friends but didn't think anything of it as she unknowingly chomped down on the crisp before her pals could warn her. However, when her friends said it could have been a winning crisp, the 40-year-old took it in her stride as she said: "I was gutted, but you know what, it is not the end of the world, is it?

"It would have made my life a little bit happier, but I haven't got the money so it doesn't make a difference." She added: "Everyone's like, 'oh my God you could have had the money,' but it doesn't matter. I haven't got that money in my life. It might have made me miserable."

Dawn has now urged other shoppers to keep an eye out for any bizarre shaped crisps and not make the same mistake she did. Every time I serve somebody with a pack of Walkers I'm like: 'Check if you've got a heart and don't eat it.'"

The mum found the crisp inside a packet of Ready Salted last Wednesday (Dawn Sagar)

While Dawn is not certain when the crisps were purchased as she bought them from her staff canteen, there is still plenty of time for crisp lovers to find eligible entries for the Walkers competition which launched a couple of weeks ago. The British snack manufacturer announced in late December that it was on the lookout for the best-heart-shaped crisps, giving fans until March 20, 2023 to find it and enter.

However, Dawn who believes her crisp 'could have been the best of all' flushed her chances down the toilet. Walkers says heart shapes can be found in random packs of Walkers crisps thanks to the natural shapes of its British potatoes meaning anyone could be in with a chance of winning the cash prize.

A Walkers spokesperson said: "We’re very sorry to hear of Dawn’s mishap, but all is not lost - heart shaped crisps naturally occur in many packets of our Walkers crisps, and as the competition doesn’t close until midnight on 20th March, there’s still plenty of time to find the best heart shaped crisp, and win £100,000.

"Remember to keep your crisp & packet safe!"
