Social media users have been left in stitches after a mum shared her embarrassing failed attempt to 'stalk' her handsome co-worker.
In an entry shared on Mumsnet, the woman explained how she had searched the postcode of an attractive male colleague to find out where he lived after overhearing him on the phone.
However, the lady's curiosity was shared with the whole office when the maps app on her phone blared the route from her current location to the gentleman's home.
The woman asked fellow mums "how do I come back from this?" as she shared the embarrassing confession.
In a post titled, "To have done the most embarrassing thing ever", she explained: "This happened about an hour ago and I think I need to go home and never come back to the office again.
"I work with a very very very handsome man. He was on the phone in the office this morning trying to sort out someone to come and fix his boiler.
"He happened to say his postcode and I, being the creepy wee lady I am, put it into maps on my phone to see where he lived.
For some reason, and I still don't know why, my phone blared out: Starting route from 'current location' to 'handsome man's postcode'.
"I was 6 feet away in a quiet office. He turned to look and I couldn’t even look up for wanting the ground to swallow me whole. How do I come back from this?"
A screenshot of the post was shared on Twitter and went on to received hundreds of replies, with the caption reading: "I have properly lost it after reading this on Mumsnet."
Offering their best advice on how to get out of the stick situation, one person wrote: "You say you meant to type something else, but accidentally typed what you heard. Apparently."
Another had a clever idea to help cover up the mistake and commented: " Mortifying. I would blame Siri and say it heard him say his postcode whilst she was on maps!!"
Others were riddled with second hand embarrassment for the poor woman.
One tweeted: "Oh god. She’s going to need some sort of witness protection scheme. New identity, new life. Nothing less will suffice."
A little dramatic maybe?
Many also replied to the Tweet with embarrassing stories of their own.
One commented: "I was sending a text to my friend about a woman I thought was hot. My brain mixed it up and sent it to her since I had her in my phone book. Classy."
Another Twitter user posted: "A friend of mine used to work at a pub and was going around collecting glasses. Pointed to a couple of near empty pots on a table of people and asked 'are these dead?'. It was a wake..."
Lots of people got involved such as one who shared his embarrassing "celebrity encounter" story.
He wrote: "Mine too is boiler and sound related. A few years ago I had my boiler serviced by an engineer who looked like Karl Pilkington. Obviously I tried to get a sneaky pic for social media points later, but of course, the camera sound was on #embarrassing"
