A horrified mum says she found a sharp blade hidden inside a sweet brought home by her children after a night of trick or treating.
Lindsey Dickinson, from Cleethorpes, claims she discovered a pencil sharpener blade lodged inside the "strange-looking" sweet as her two children showed her their haul from an hour-and-a-half trip around the neighbourhood, reports Grimsby Live.
She told the newspaper that her children had covered a "wide area" on their trick or treating exploration after heading out at around 5pm, before returning to attend a part with her local church.
Recalling the scene when they returned home at about 7pm, she said: "They were spreading all the sweets out on the table saying, 'Look at this one', and Charlie said, 'Can I have a sweet now, mum?' and I said that of course he could, it's Halloween."

But Charlie picked up and unwrapped an orange Fruitella sweet with the intention of eating it, he discovered a strange "green line" on top of it.
Lindsey says she then looked closer and began peeling back part of the sweet - only to discover the blade hidden inside.
Sharing her feelings on the shock discovery, she said: "It looks like a pencil sharpener blade. I was so shocked. How could someone do this? It's a night for children to have fun, and the fact that someone could do this to intentionally harm somebody is disgusting.

"The fact that a piece of metal has been inserted into a sweet is just shocking. I have no idea where it came from because they covered quite a lot of ground. It's scary because any young child wouldn't think twice about popping that sweet into their mouth."
The mum said she felt compelled to share what had happened on Facebook to alert other parents in the area - with many commenting to express their disgust after it was shared more than 1,000 times in a few hours
One angry parent commented that the tampering could have been "fatal", while another raged: "This is absolutely disgusting!!! What sicko would want to do this to a child! Ruins it for the kids!"
