Mum left devastated as no one turns up to son's sixth birthday party

A mum has been left heartbroken after none of her son's friends showed up to his recent birthday party.

The parent shared the news in a gut-wrenching TikTok video.

The American woman, known by her username of @dawners86, said that she had invited 22 people to party at a local park but not one of them turned up to celebrate her son turning six.

In the video, she explains that Covid restrictions had been eased in her area, but that she'd specifically held the party outdoors anyway to make it safer for guests and put them at ease.

As reported by The Mirror, she said: "So we're sitting at the park for JJ's birthday party, we got everything ready, his party started half an hour ago.

"He had literally zero people show up for his birthday. My poor little man."

The heartbreaking clip also shows the woman's song playing in the park alone, as she sits at the table she had arranged full of birthday decorations and cupcakes.

The captions on the video add: "Out of 22 invites... no one came... I know it's a pandemic, but it is a park, and we have reopened in my province.

"Sorry the video is shaky, I am so upset for this poor guy. He deserves better. He's amazing."

Alongside this, she used the hashtags #heartbroken and #sosad.

The clip has since gone viral, being watched over one million times and garnering more than 279,000 likes.

Thousands also took the time to comment and share messages for JJ.

One said: "My mamma heart just broke. I have questions, what is he into right now? Where can I send him gifts? I am dead serious."

Another wrote: "This is why we ALWAYS show. No matter what. My girl is there with a gift and a smile."

A third said: "PLEASE tell me you told him you accidentally got the day wrong."

Someone proclaimed: "Bro, I don't normally show emotions or get upset about anything but when people don't come to kids parties it is the one thing that makes me cry."

A different user added: "Happy birthday little man and don't worry about those 'friends' they showed their true colours today. You don't need them."
