A distraught mum whose son died while diving has left a heartbreaking note to a teenager who tried to save him.
The handwritten note was found by locals after being pinned to one side of the Brixham Breakwater Beach shed, although the identity of the mother is unclear, DevonLive reports.
In the message, written with a black marker over a piece of cardboard, the mum sends a special thank you to a 17-year-old who called 999 when she saw her son Max in distress.
The circumstances of the dad-of-one's death are unknown while there are no more details on who the mum is.

The note says: "Brixham people my son Max died on this beach 16 March.
"Funeral 13 April. I am his mum, you folks have called 999, Lilly is the hero who did this, at 17 years old so great.
"His diving buddy too far away to help or hear his last cry for help, his friends drove away.
"Max a fun guy loved dives, leaves 6-year-old son, 18 months girl and grieving wife.
"Thank you all so much for your kindness.
"Heart foundation say simple test can identify similar heart defect. Funds to raise and save lives.
"Divers! Never desert your buddy."
