A mum killed with her four children in a horror crash posted a heartbreaking message shortly before the tragedy - saying she felt abandoned by her local church.
Charmaine Harris McLeod, 35, died along with children Aaleyn, six, Matilda, five, Wyatt, four, and Zaidok, two, in Queensland, Australia.
The head-on crash between her Nissan station wagon and a truck happened on Monday as she attempted to overtake a truck.
Now it has emerged that McLeod posted a message of despair to her local church hitting out at the lack of support she had been given.
In the post on the Bayside Christian Church, 9News reports , she wrote: ”Honestly, I tried to fit in, I tried for 17 years.
“I feel as if, if you cant or dont grasp God/healing etc, when they think you should have then you just get left behind (sic).
“...With nothing & 4 children, you would think there would be support/help, but very very little, they were always too busy, not one piece of clothing or a piece of bread was offered, let alone shelter.
“I feel as if I've done it alone... these are the things Jesus did, he ate with the less fortunate… I've asked for prayer before surgery & yes I've had a lot of surgeries but they dont, they do for others though.”
In response the church wrote: “We are saddened that you feel this way and can have a Pastoral member contact you again if you need to discuss these things further. Our door is always open should you need it.”
The church has been criticised in the aftermath of the tragedy, but says it was in constant contact with her.
In another post on social media, it said: “We have known Charmaine for over 15 years and provided many hours of support whenever she needed it.
“People were in contact with Charmaine right up until last week. Our door was always open to Charmaine whenever she needed help and she knew that.
“We are now in the process of giving support to her family and the many people she knew.”
James McLeod, father of the four children, released a statement voicing his sorrow at the deaths.
He said: "I love them very much and they will be surely missed with all of my heart.
"They were beautiful souls and were loved by all who knew them."
