Mum killed baby by injecting him with drugs then stuffed body in the freezer

A monster mum who killed her baby with drugs and stuffed his body in a freezer because the smell was so bad has been jailed for 99 years.

Amanda Oakes, 36, subjected her son to a meth overdose and then hid his body in a hotel ice box.

She refused to arrange a proper memorial for the tot and drove away.

But staff at the hotel in Dothan, Alabama, made a gruesome discovery and contacted authorities in June last year.

A court heard today callous Oakes admitted the killing and confessed to herself being under the influence of drugs when the baby died.

The evil mum was locked up for 99 years.

"It is believed that the child was deceased prior to being placed in the freezer, however foul play is suspected in the child’s death," a police spokesman in Dothan said at the time.

The defendant, from Dothan, told officers the "baby's body was placed in the freezer because the smell became unbearable."

But, speaking after sentencing today, District Attorney Pat Jones said: "I want to thank all the law enforcement officers who investigated this case.

"Everyone worked very hard in making sure this case was ready for trial. I also want to thank my assistant district attorney J.T. Jones for his work.

"This case has affected a lot of people."

Oakes' own daughter even testified against her in court.

It is said she has suffered immensely since the killing.

District Att Jones continued: "Oakes’ daughter testified against her own mother Tuesday, and that will affect that child.

"This case is a prime example of how drugs can ruin someone’s life and aid people in making decisions that hurt so many people."

It is unclear exactly what drugs Oakes was on at the time.
