Mum is trolled by internet 'Karens' after revealing her school holidays snack box for her four-year-old is stuffed with biscuits and crisps

A mum has been shamed by fellow parents after showing off her son's school holiday snack box which was packed with crisps and biscuits.

The mum posted a picture to the Family Lockdown Tips and Ideas Facebook page, of a tray filled with snacks for her four-year-old son to keep him going  between meals during the school break.

Posting the picture the mum said: "Anyone else ready for half term? I only have a four-year-old but I can't keep up with the amount of snacks he wants all day long."

The mum hit back at critics (Facebook)

But the mum was instantly trolled by other parents who blasted her lack of fruit options and ample choice of crisps, Wagon Wheels and breadsticks.

One said: "Need healthier snacks than that. Those won't help hunger pangs anyway. How about fruit or  homemade cereal bars, dates, oatcakes, etc."

Another said: "I'm obviously a mean  mummy. Snacks here are bread, fruit, cheese, crackers or brioche."

"I must be an evil mum coz I don't give  mine snacks in between meals. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner with a sweet treat after lunch of dnner," said another.

"If my five-year-old is hungry after her food I tell her to eat a yoghurt or fruit. Don't want to give in to rubbish food, that's too easy."

"Only sugar free snacks in our house unless you want the to have lots of dental problems, which can't be easily resolved in the current situation with Covid."

But the debate wasn't all one sided and raged on to more than 700 comments, with some mums defending the snack choices.

One said: "I see the judgey Karens are out in force! I'm sure she feeds her kid fruit as well."

Another said: "Omg she didn't post a health review, pretty sure that's not all she feeds her kid."

"Sanctimummies out in force," said another.

Following the harsh comments the mum edited her post to reassure concerned parents that her son had a balanced diet.

She said: "EDIT: It's hidden til half term.

"My son is a fruit and veg addict and has more than his five a day.

"My son gets to choose one savory and one sweet snack a day on top of his fruit and veg snacks...if I didn't limit it I would go bankrupt."
