Mum is planning a weekend ten mile cycle in memory of beloved daughter

A mother whose daughter passed away in 2017 is doing a ten mile cycle event in Millport in her honour for the Max Appeal charity.

Angela McKee’s world came tumbling down when Danielle passed away in 2017 after being diagnosed with Lymphoma.

However, Angela and her husband, Craig, are aiming to keep Danielle's memory alive through charity work as it allows family and friends to frequently come together.

They have already raised more than £9,000 for charity this year.

Angela is hoping to raise that £9,000 to £10,000 on Saturday as she takes part in a Millport ten mile cycle event.

She said: “Thirty people taking part with family and Danielle's friends. We try to make it a fun day for everyone taking part, so after covid, this is the first cycle since 2019. We aim to raise £1000 for the cycle this would make this year's total around £10,000.

“This is for the Max Appeal charity that needs the funding to help raise awareness. Danielle was born with Di George Syndrome which caused many health problems through there life although it never stopped her from living her life to the full when she could.

“Charity fundraising helps us to keep Danielle's memory alive and a focus, keeping her circle of friends and family involved whenever they can mean so much to us. We are truly grateful for all the support and donations for this charity.

“Without them, we couldn’t achieve the targets we have met. Danielle was a huge part of so many people's lives she is truly missed by so many.”

Max Appeal was founded by parents of children diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome to help them live independent lives.

It is a condition present from birth that can cause a range of lifelong problems, including heart defects and learning difficulties. Find out more at: www.maxappeal.org.uk
