Mum in tears after husband 'ruins' 40th birthday in 'colossal failure'

A mum was left in tears after her husband 'ruined' her 40th birthday.

The woman blasted her husband as an "ignorant, lazy stupid a**" after he sprung a surprise party on her with a room full of guests she doesn't like, including her ex-friend's brother and a 'mum friend' she barely knows.

The mum said she went all out on her husband's 40th birthday a few years ago and when hers came around, he decided to 'copy' her idea.

But the woman says because she lives far from her family he invited people she 'cannot connect with' who all turned up while she was still in her pjyamas.

The woman said her husband had not even prepared any party food so when her guests turned up she ended up cooking food for them in her nightwear and has been crying ever since.

Posting on mumsnet, she said: "So here I thought I am going to spend a chilled out day of sleep, eat and maybe a quiet walk in the forest.

"And suddenly all these people come to our house. I was not ready to have guests no make up didn’t do my hair, nothing. I was literally in my PJs he didn’t even tell me to dress up.

"So here I am feeling completely exposed and embarrassed that the only people I know are these three households. I felt like crying. It was almost like a celebration of my sad life.

"He didn’t even prepare any food so there is me having to help him cook while in PJs for my surprise birthday party.

"I have felt so so angry and exposed I just wanted to cry and hide under my blanket. But here is me having to pretend that I love the whole thing. The worst birthday of my life I hated every single second.

"So I have been feeling so down and sad since the party. I cannot believe how someone who knows me who knows my fears my worries think I would want to spend my birthday with people I have nothing to do with.

"I feel such disappointment and anger towards him I just feel like this is proof he is such an ignorant lazy stupid ass who thought, let me copy the idea she did for my birthday and create the most pathetic party ever.

"I am so sad I cannot stop crying I hate that he ruined my birthday and how will I every forgive him."

Commenting on the heartbreaking post, other mums said the woman was right to feel upset and branded her husband 'lazy', 'stupid' and 'an idiot'.

One said: "Your husband is a complete idiot. Don’t let him gaslight you into thinking he did a nice thing for you. How humiliating to allow a random bunch of guests to arrive with you not ready, not even dressed. If he didn’t want to cook, he should have paid for a takeaway. What an a**e."

Another branded the husband's efforts a 'colossal failure'.

Oh my god what a colossal failure!! It's as if he thought "I'll do the same for her," and then completely stopped thinking right then! No food, no supplies in, not even a feeble attempt at diversion to get you dressed, leaving you to do everything suddenly and out of nowhere!

Another said: "I am completely astounded at your husband's stupidity. I would be just as angry and mortified as you are. I'm so sorry."

A fourth didn't hold back on he thoughts, adding: "Your husband is a massive tw*t! I can totally understand why you are so upset. He clearly has no idea how to read the room with such p*ss poor organisation."

"I would actually be traumatised by that," added another.

While others thought the lame party was just the tip of the iceberg.

One said: "There are bigger issues in your marriage than the party. The party is a symptom of the problem, but not the problem itself. The party shows that he either doesn't know you, or doesn't care about you, or both.
