Mum in tears after Aldi bedding thread 'gets tangled' around daughter's neck

A mum claims her daughter's neck was left red raw after she got caught on loose thread from bedding she bought from Aldi.

The woman shared pictures on Facebook of the injury she said the little girl suffered.

She said she hadn't stopped crying since it happened, and urged other parents to be careful if they've bought a similar product.

The mum wrote: "Please if you have bought Aldi bedding in the recent baby and toddler event check the stitching on it…

"I came in to this this morning and I haven’t stopped crying since.

"We are so incredibly lucky that she is ok."

In a post shared on Thursday she said that it could happen with any bedding, adding: "On this occasion it was the Aldi bed set I bought at the baby and toddler event. Please check all stitching no matter the brand.

"Aldi head office has been informed and sent the photos (with a very strong email of complaint) Citizens advice are going to help me get in touch with trading standards."

More than 2,500 people have commented on the post, voicing their support for the mum.

One wrote: "So glad your baby is OK. She is so lucky. Big hugs."

Another posted: "It doesn't bear thinking about. So pleased your baby is ok."

And a stunned Facebook user branded the incident "terrifying".

Mirror Online has contacted Aldi for a comment.

The supermarket chain has yet to respond, but in a statement told The Sun: “We are sorry to hear about the family’s experience and have arranged for the product to be collected and returned to our supplier so they can look into this immediately."
