Mum in hysterics after shop's 'embarrassing' error with banner for son's christening

A mum and her family were left in fits of laughter after an "embarrassing" mistake by a banner shop.

Denise Smith, 30, was after a large banner for her son Raymond's Christening, and didn't imagine her relatively simple request could go wrong.

She told the printing staff "I just want 'On Your Christening Day'", and assumed everything would go to plan.

But, when the huge banner arrived in the post, the entire family got a hilarious surprise.

The staff clearly took the request a little bit too literally, and even printed 'I just want' at the start of the wording.

The printing store was also owned by her brother - the godfather of Denise's son - who admitted he was embarrassed by the mistake.

Thankfully, the mum-of-two, saw the funny side of it, and even used the banner anyway.

She said: "When I opened the banner, my brother's wife just shrieked 'oh my god'. My brother was so embarrassed - he was meant to be godfather you see.

"I just laughed, gasped and thought 'Oh my God'. I just thought it was so funny - how can you mess it up that badly?"

Denise ordered the banner in person at the store, but decided to email and WhatsApp the wording just in case.

Somehow the requested text was still lost in translation, leaving the family in hysterics.

She said: "Raymond's dad, Connor, just said it was quality and laughed.

"All of my family and friends were just in stitches - they thought it was so funny. Even when I tell people now they don't believe it happened."

Denise said that the mixed-up banner made Raymond's, who is now four years old, christening even more memorable.
