Children will often come out with all sorts of bizarre and hilariously inappropriate things, and so it's unsurprising that one mum wasn't too sure of the truth when her kid first told her the name of their class teacher.
According to this amused mum, her preschool-aged daughter was insistent that her new teacher was called 'Mr Penis', a name she just couldn't believe was real.
A bit of arguing back and forth ensued, but then the parent saw the name for herself in black and white: Ms. Derpanis.
Despite her unusual name, the unnamed mum, who regularly tweets about all things parenting, has praised Ms. Derpanis as a "phenomenal" teacher, and has publicly thanked her and all other teachers for "taking care of our hilarious kids."

Taking to Twitter, the tickled parent - who goes by the handle @IHideFromMyKids - wrote: "My daughter insisted her new preschool teacher’s name was Mr. Penis. We argued over it until one day we finally saw it in writing. Ms. Derpanis. Her name was Ms. Derpanis."
The funny, and extremely relatable, tweet has since gone viral, clocking up more than 213.3K likes and 14.1K retweets and counting, and has prompted a number of others to come forward with similar stories of their own.
One fellow parent recalled: "We would ask my oldest daughter every day how school went. [...] One day she replied, 'today we had a prostitute teacher.' At first, we were baffled and stunned. Then, I realized she meant substitute teacher."
Another said: "I had a teacher named Mrs Condon. I told my mum it was Mrs Condom. She came home pretty upset after the teacher-parent meeting."
Responding to the widespread attention her tweet has received, the Canada-based mother added: "[I've had direct messages] from teachers across the country asking if this is about them.
"While true, I did change the spelling slightly in the name and for the record, Ms. D is phenomenal. Love to teachers everywhere for taking care of our hilarious kids!"
