Mum ignites angry backlash for complaining about newborn daughter's eye colour

Cradling her newborn baby in her arms, Biannca Prince does what countless new mums do every day and peers into her tiny daughter's eyes, trying to see if she can figure out their colour.

Cue; intense speculation about her daughter's eye colour - and some comments which drew criticism and prompted viewers to chip in, angrily.

The 22-year-old YouTuber states: "She's going to have brown eyes for sure..." as little Nova Grace is placed into her arms.

Then Nova opens her eyes and Biannca says: "I thought you were going to have pretty eyes."

Her husband Damien quickly says: "She does have pretty eyes!" Even one of the nurses present interjects and tells Biannca that Nova is "beautiful".

Biannca then tells her daughter she's "so pretty" and conversation, which happens in a flash, moves on.

But not so quickly that viewers missed the exchange, and they were just as speedy in expressing their outrage.

One of the Prince's subscribers shared a clip to Twitter , captioning it with: "Imagine being one hour old and your parents are obsessing over our skin/eye colour."

The comments rolled in, thick and fast.

In Biannca's defence, she was freshly postpartum - how many of us could hit it out of the park in a camera appearance moments after having given birth?

Perhaps, given this, she should be cut a little slack?

Apparently not.

The backlash prompted the Princes to post a video explaining their reaction.

In it, Biannca says: "I didn’t mean for it to be offensive towards anybody.

"I just meant I wish she would have had my eyes, and to this day I still think one of my kids should've had my eyes - it's just a preference."
