Mum horrified after finding blue 'ecstasy' pill in McDonald's

A mother was left horrified after she found a suspected ecstasy tablet on the children's table of a McDonald's restaurant in Merthyr Tydfil .

Charlotte Morgans was at the McDonald's in Cyfartha Retail Park in Merthyr on Saturday, July 20 at around 9am when she discovered the blue tablet .

The tablet, which had a Punisher logo on it, is believed to be an ecstasy pill that has been heavily featured in the media recently.

The mum-of-one said she was "petrified" after finding because her young daughter was with her.

She said: "I had my four-year-old daughter with me - she was inches from it.

"It was on the base of the seat at the iPad table in Cyfartha McDonald’s."

The pill Charlotte found resembles the "Blue Punisher" ecstasy tablet that has been making headlines.

The Mirror recently reported that "Punisher" ecstasy pills are claimed to be three times stronger than usual and they had been linked to the death of a teenager.

They reported that last year the drug awareness charity, The Loop, claimed that the tablets contain 300mg of MDMA - three times the 'normal' amount.

Charlotte, said she recognised the tablet from the social media posts. She said: "I knew it was an ecstasy tablet because I’ve seen them shared online when a young boy recently died from taking one in a park.

"I gave it to the lady cleaning where I was standing and she said she would give it to the manager."

What is ecstasy?

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: " I can confirm that staff at the McDonald's on the Cyfartha retail park in Merthyr Tydfil were alerted to an item found by a customer.

"We are currently investigating this and co-operating with police on this matter.”

WalesOnline has contacted South Wales Police for comment.
