Mum hits out at Amazon after delivery driver 'tried to enter her home'

A mum has hit out at Amazon after claiming one of its delivery drivers 'attempted to enter her home'.

Natalie Harvey, who lives in Netherton, West Midlands, says she was on her way to answer the front door when the worker 'tried' her door handle.

The 35-year-old mum-of-three told Birmingham Mail : "I was in my living room and looked on Amazon tracking and it said my parcel was one stop away. Then about 10 minutes later there was a tap at my front door.

"I got up but as I got to hall way, I could see the driver through the glass go for the handle and he tried to open the door.

"I unlocked the door and said 'why are you trying to open my door?'

"He looked at me like he wasn’t expecting me to say anything and he mumbled something so I said it again. He then said 'the parcel is too big for the letter box'.

"I told him 'I don’t care, you don’t try my door'. He looked at me and said 'oh, ok'. Luckily I lock the door because I’m on my own in the day but he would have just let himself in.

"I was angry at the time but now I've had time to think, I’m more scared because my kids could have been in the house."

Natalie immediately contacted Amazon to complain about the incident.

The mum added: "I was on the phone for no more than five minutes. They have apologised and said it won’t happen again. I said 'is that all?'

"She said 'I’ll send an email saying it won’t happen again'. So I said 'someone has tried to walk into my house and you think an apology and an email is acceptable?' I’m disgusted with them."

A spokesman for Amazon said: "We take these matters seriously and have reached out to the customer to apologize for the experience and offer our support. We are addressing the matter with our delivery service provider."
