Mum having 'sleepless nights' over welfare of son she has not heard from since January

A mum has made an emotional plea for information on her son's welfare, having not had any contact with him since January.

Donna Wheeler has admitted she is having "sleepless nights" worrying about the welfare of her son, Kristopher Evans.

The 27-year-old has links to the Neath area, where he had a flat for a number of years, and also the Aberdare area, where he studied at Aberdare College in mechanics and business management courses until he was 19. The last place he was seen was in the Swansea area.

"I saw him last on December 27, and then he rang me on January 28 to say he was okay," Ms Wheeler said.

"His girlfriend says she spoke to him at the beginning of March but nothing since then.

"I sometimes don't sleep because I'm frightened and worrying so much. I have bad thoughts, I don't know where he is and I worry something bad has happened.

"It's a really worrying time for everyone at the moment, but it's worse again if you don't know where your child is."

Miss Wheeler explained she tries to call Mr Evans every day but always gets his answer phone message.

"All I want is a phone call or a text to say 'I'm safe and I'm well' and I will be happy then," she said.

"In the past he would always meet me, even if it was once a fortnight we would meet up.

"This is the first time he has not rung me on Mother's Day.

"He had got in with the wrong crowd, and people don't seem to want to help him because of his history."

How does a missing person investigation work?

In a message to her son, Miss Wheeler said: "I just want him to let me know he is alive and well and safe, that's all I want. It's heartbreaking for me.

"It's the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I think of at night. The longer it goes on the more worried I am."
