Mum has huge 'tail-like' growth under her bum removed after 10 years

A mum who was too embarrassed to take her kids out in public because of a "tail like bump" on her leg has finally had it removed after 10 years.

Viewers were horrified after the episode of TLC's Dr Pimple Popper, featuring Heather who told the show she had put up with the growth for ten years, aired.

The mother-of-two from Kissimmee, in Florida, first noticed the small bump under her bottom when she gained weight during pregnancy with her first child.

As time went on Heather managed to lose two stone, but the growth would not budge and began to resemble a stump tail.

She said: "The lump looks the size of a soft ball.  It's really difficult to sit on. I am embarrassed of the lump - it's  gross. I've had the lump for ten years and have no idea what it was."

After pulling and prodding Dr Sandra Lee was able to make a diagnosis of lipoma.

She said: "The bump is a lipoma, which is a good thing because that means it's benign but it is much deeper than it initially looks.

"A bit like an iceberg, it really does project under the surface of the skin."

Lipoma is a benign, fatty lump, that grows under the skin. They are non-cancerous and can be caused by an overgrowth of fat cells.

During the op Heather was under local anaesthetic as Dr Lee cut away the "slippery" growth which she described as "heavy".

She then sews it up and tells Heather it will leave a neat scar.

On Instagram she described it as "One of my CRAZIEST cases EVER!!"

Users were quick to agree commenting: "That looks like it hurts BADLY!"

Another added: "What the ..how'd she let it get that big?"
