Mum has her phone stolen while getting Covid-19 booster jab

A mum has warned those getting their Covid-19 booster vaccine to be careful after her phone was stolen in a matter of minutes.

Tamsyn Neild went for her booster at the Concourse Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale on Tuesday afternoon, Lancs Live reports.

After she had been vaccinated, Tamsyn returned to find the phone had been taken from her coat in the waiting area.

The 47-year-old says she knows it was unwise to leave the phone unattended but said she believed that a vaccine centre would be secure enough for her not to need worry.

With just 10 days until Christmas, she is now burdened with the additional cost and hassle of arranging a replacement phone and wants to warn others not to make the same mistake.

Molly Neild, Tamsyn’s daughter, said: “When she got home she told me her phone had been taken, I asked her how. She said she went into the vaccination centre and took her coat off and left it on a chair and then took her jumper off so they could get to her arm.

“She went into the space to get her vaccine done, and was in there for as little as two minutes. Her first thought wasn’t to take her coat in as she didn’t think she would have something stolen at an NHS service, but when she picked her coat up and walked out she noticed her phone had gone.

“She went back in and the vaccination centre told her that there’s nothing they could do as she left her belongings unattended. She understands that she shouldn’t have left her coat with her phone in the pocket but it’s the last place she expected to be a victim of theft.”

Tamsyn, who works at a fast food restaurant, asked for help finding the phone but was unable to do so and wanted to warn others not to assume they can safely leave their belongings behind.

Molly said: “She wants everyone to keep going to get their vaccine to keep themselves and their loved ones safe, but she doesn’t want people making the same mistake of leaving their belongings unattended like she did.”
